Phil Farish of Farish Groundworks owns a section of the Townfoot Industrial Estate just outside Brampton. There are four existing buildings and one being planned to be completed by Sept 2022.
Solar panels will be installed on all these roofs and the electricity generated used to decarbonise the industrial units. Batteries will be installed to store excess energy generated and be available at times of peak demand. Each unit will have an EV charging points.
The project will rent one unit from the new building for a retrofitting project (see below for details) and retrofitting rural housing.
A solar power array could be placed on other large buildings in Brampton such as the West Cumberland Farmers Building next to Murray Park and Brampton Community Centre.
EVs will increasingly be an important aspect of Brampton’s transport needs. An EV charging station will be set up at the C&C Barnetts Garage on the Townfoot Industrial Estate will host a fast-charging facility for EVs. The PV solar panel programme could involve funding a car charging point for every installation.
